The “Women Truckers Network” Free Phone Conference Events

Today we celebrate a milestone for Women Truckers with the launch of the “Women Truckers Network” (WTN).  After 5 years of patient waiting for organizations to deliver something significant,  the female driving population has become weary from the delays.

Real working truck drivers have limited time to attend conventions and networking events but a growing number of owner operators and company drivers wish to give access to their knowledge base for prospective CDL students.

Phone conferencing allows truck drivers to connect with those who wish to ask questions from experienced veterans. This format is meant to promote a variety of perspectives so that all areas of trucking can be discussed by people who are currently employed in the industry.

The “Women Truckers Network” will discuss CDL Training, entry-level truck driving expectations, the trucking lifestyle and will provide a networking venue for female drivers who simply wish to meet new friends utilizing social media channels.

All female CDL holders and Women who are considering trucking as a career are invited to attend these free phone conferencing events. You may ask questions or participate as a mentor in your area of expertise. Please email realwomenintrucking@gmail.com for the call in number, access code and schedule.

Each conference will be recorded for playback and all genders are welcome to listen to the playback discussions.

Today’s introductory conference can be heard at (805) 399-1099 access code 560199

Your topic suggestions for future conferences are welcome. Please email realwomenintrucking@gmail.com with the subject line WTN Topic Suggestion and your contact information if you would like to participate as host in the phone conference.

Hi, I am a female, about to go to training. I got my truck driving certification in March, and am going to go with (I think) a good, smaller trucking company that does regional and national. I want to do regional, and then get put on a list for a local utility driver spot. Yes, I am trying to keep far away from 14 days out, one day home. I can hack it. I was a Sergent in the Army. I can keep my mouth shut and eyes open, not whine and complain. My expectations are to get experience, and have no accidents. I really do not care what I make (I do need to make enough to pay my bills though). When everyone says that truck drivers expect more money than they should do you mean I should expect to make less than 20K per year? I thought the first year out you’d make about 25-29K or so. That’s what I expect.

      Hi Katy:

In the first year you can expect about $35 to $37K so if you expected $29K and are fine with that you should be okay. The pay is very inconsistent though and in the first few months it is only about $250 to $300 per week gross so plan for that. The annual average seems okay at first glancee but if you cannot survive on the very low pay in the first part of the training all will be lost. Good Luck to you!

Hi , I am a female just got my Class A CDL with all endorsements and have an excellent driving record.
I want to drive regionally for a company in the Northwest get experience and drive then drive local. I have researched many companies online and have only found one in my area.
What questions do I ask to make sure they are a decent company?
